Deformation bands (white horizontal bands at the arrowheads) in a high‐porosity, poorly bedded marine sandstone. The sandstone is white as indicated by the fresh break at the top of the core. The core surface has been stained gray by drilling mud except along the low-permeability/low-porosity deformation bands. Vertical, 4-inch diameter core; uphole is towards the top of the photo.
