Vertical standing sandstone in Albian-Cenomanian Torok Formation Sandstone exposed on the Ivishak River. This sandstone was deposited in the Colville foredeep by sediment-gravity-flow processes. Rounded ridges at left in background are topographic expression of the Gilead syncline, with sandstone beds of the Torok Formation defending the uplands. Jagged mountains at right in background defines Brooks Range mountain front with mostly Paleozoic rocks exposed. Location about 90 miles south-southeast of Prudhoe Bay.
